General Manager

Michael McIlroy

Michael is the General Manager of Webb Legal and also an active Senior Solicitor.


Michael is an experienced Commercial, Property and Wills & Estates Lawyer and he brings over a decade of legal experience to the Webb Legal team. Michael was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2013. With bachelor’s degrees in Commerce (Accounting) and in Law. Michael leans upon his tuition and prior managerial experience to provide practical and trusted advice to his clients.

Michael has been involved with various sporting clubs on an administrative level, acted as a trustee of the Sir Andrew and Lady Fairley Foundation and lectured Business Law and Environmental Law at La Trobe University.

 

Michael specifically practices in the following areas: 

  • Property sales, purchases and development subdivisions, including having advised on several large-scale property developments.
  • Applications for Probate and Letters of Administration (including general estate administration).
  • Estate planning.
  • The purchase and sale of businesses.
  • Wills and Power of Attorney.
  • Commercial property leasing.
  • Commercial agreements including shareholder and unitholder agreements.

Partner

Steve Hoban

Steven is a Partner of the firm. He was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1983 and admitted to the High Court of Australia in 2016. Steven completed his Articles with leading Melbourne law firm, Russell Kennedy & Cook. After a stint with Coopers & Lybrand he focused on tax and commercial law before embarking on a senior corporate career which included ten years working in Singapore and Indonesia. Steven has worked for many years with commercial contracts, purchase and sale of businesses, leasing, contracts and wills, powers of attorney, probate and estate matters. He has managed successful mediations and litigation matters from the Supreme Court to the Magistrates Court and at VCAT

Our Team

Owen Webb
Consultant

Owen is a Consultant at the firm and is a Nationally Accredited Mediator under NMAS. He is admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia. He has many years experience in corporate advice and family and small businesses. Owen focuses on dispute resolution, practical problem solving and has an extensive experience in commercial leasing, wills and probate, commercial and business law. He sits on various boards and committees and is currently the Secretary of the Resolution Institute of Australia - Victorian Mediation Special Interest Group.

W. John Gilbert
Consultant

John was admitted to practice in 1975. He has extensive experience in legal practice including property development, syndication, finance and contract advice. John is well placed to give advice on “off the plan” contracts from both sides of the transaction. He was the founding partner of W J Gilbert & Co. John is a leading authority on business purchases/sales as well as succession planning including wills and estate challenges and all commercial and financial disputes. 

Philip Turner
Consultant

Philip was admitted to practice in 1963. He has extensive experience in property development, property investment, finance and all commercial matters.
He has served as a partner of Clements Mott and Bett which then merged to become Ridgeway Clements. Philip then became a partner of Gadens – a major national law firm. His many years experience as a senior property lawyer leaves him well qualified to advise on most proposed property and property development transactions.

Tracy Webb
Conveyancer

Navigating property transactions like conveyancing, subdivisions, and settlements can feel overwhelming, but with Tracy, you're in capable and caring hands. As an experienced conveyancer, holding a Diploma and electronic conveyancing accreditation, Tracy brings exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail to every transaction. Clients consistently appreciate her dedication to making the process smooth and ensuring they feel well looked after. Her strong connections with local authorities, banks, and real estate agents further streamline the journey, giving you the confidence that everything is expertly managed.

Annette Martino
Legal Assistant

Annette is a legal assistant with considerable experience particularly in conveyancing, settlements and litigation. She is an accredited electronic conveyancing practitioner and has a Certificate IV in Legal Services. Annette provides support in our Family Law and our Litigation matters.

Katrina Wieringa
Administration Manager

Katrina has worked in the legal profession for 35 years, having worked in both large corporate firms and smaller suburban offices. She has completed an Advanced Diploma of Accounting and a Diploma of Financial Markets. Katrina looks after all our accounting needs and provides backup and support to other areas within the firm.

Sue Barnes
Legal Assistant/Receptionist

Sue has worked in the legal profession for over 40 years. She assists in a wide range of legal matters and all administration tasks. She has considerable experience particularly in Conveyancing, Wills and Powers of Attorney.  She has completed Certificate II and lll in Business & Office Administration.

Krystal Johnstone
Reception/ Legal Assistant

Krystal is an experienced legal assistant and administrator who graduated from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Laws & Bachelor of Arts in 2024. She provides general and technical support to solicitors in relation to conveyancing, commercial litigation, wills, estates, powers of attorney and family law matters.

 

Krystal is passionate about creating positive outcomes for clients and developing a versatile legal career. She is excited to be admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria in mid-2025. 

Katie Furstenberg
paralegal

Katie has been working as a senior property and commercial paralegal for over 20 years. She specialises in residential and commercial conveyancing, development projects, owner’s corporation matters, subdivisions, commercial leasing, complex property transactions, wills, estates, powers of attorney, disputes, and other related transactions. Katie strives to deliver the highest level of service and care for each client. Her experience and diligence are highly valued by our clients and the team at Webb Legal.

Amelia Riley
Legal Assistant

Amelia is originally from Wangaratta and is now based in our Elsternwick office as a Law Clerk. 

 

Amelia has a range of experience in estate, family law and commercial legal matters including disputes, recovery proceedings, agreements, and civil litigation.

 

Amelia is hardworking, knowledgeable, and currently undertaking her final semester of her Bachelor of Laws with Honours and Bachelor of Science degree at Monash University.
